AI & Recording Disclosure

We treat every call as all-party consent. Several states require every participant's consent to record a call. Clear examples: California (Penal Code §632), Florida (§934.03), Illinois (720 ILCS 5/14-2), Washington (RCW 9.73.030), Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania. Connecticut, Delaware, Nevada, Oregon, and in some situations Michigan also apply all-party rules.

On an interstate call, the strictest state's rule can apply. California also has separate rules for cellular and cordless calls (§632.7). So we follow an all-party, affirmative-consent standard on every call, in every state, regardless of where the caller is.

An announcement alone is not our standard. We always require a spoken “yes.” We never place outbound AI calls. Interviews are inbound only.

Before you book

Booking asks you to agree, in writing, to this:

I understand and agree that my Service Call Audit interview will be conducted by an AI voice interviewer (not a human), and that the call will be recorded and transcribed. The recording and transcript are used only to prepare and quality-check my report, are processed by our service providers as described in the Privacy Policy, and recordings are deleted 90 days after my report is delivered. I'll tell anyone who joins my call that it's recorded. I can say no at the start of the call, and I'll be offered a written questionnaire or a human follow-up instead.

The confirmation email also says: “Reminder: your interview is with our AI interviewer and is recorded. You'll be asked to confirm at the start of the call.”

At the start of the call

Before any interview question, the interviewer says:

Hi, thanks for calling Service Call Audit. Before we start, two quick things. First, I'm an AI interviewer, not a person. A human on our team reviews your report before it's sent. Second, this call is being recorded and transcribed so we can build your report. Is that okay with you? Please say yes or no.

  • Clear “yes.” The interviewer asks if anyone else is on the line, or might join. Each other person gets the notice below and has to say yes. Then the interview starts.
  • “No,” or still unclear after one re-ask. The interviewer stops. Nothing further is recorded. Our team emails you to set up a written questionnaire or a follow-up with a person, at no extra cost.
  • Unclear answer. The interviewer asks once more: “Sorry, I just need a clear yes or no. Is it okay to record this call?”
  • Questions about the AI or the data. The interviewer answers briefly (recordings are used only for your report and are deleted 90 days after delivery; details are in the Privacy Policy), then asks for consent again.

If someone joins mid-call

If a new voice is on the line, or you say someone has joined, the interviewer says:

Hi, I'm an AI interviewer from Service Call Audit, and this call is being recorded and transcribed for a business report. Is that okay with you? Please say yes or no.

  • Yes. The interview continues.
  • No. Recording and transcription stop. Because not everyone can be recorded, the interview ends, and our team emails you to finish with a written questionnaire or a human follow-up, at no extra cost.
  • No clear answer (for example a voice in the background). The interviewer asks you to have that person step away or confirm. If that can't be resolved, it is treated as a no.

If you change your mind

If anyone says to stop recording at any point, we stop recording, offer a human follow-up, and end the interview.

What we keep

We keep a record of the booking consent (the time, IP address, and form version) and the spoken yes at the start of the recording. Both are kept while we keep the transcript, plus 3 years. Under the Privacy Policy, recordings are deleted 90 days after delivery.
